Associate Director of Marketing Science
Love digging into complex data—and helping people see what to do with it? At Hiebing, we believe the numbers should lead somewhere: stronger ideas, smarter investments and meaningful results. We’re looking for an Associate Director of Marketing Science who brings technical depth, leadership presence and the curiosity to turn challenging business questions into clear, actionable answers.
This is a fast-paced agency role. You’ll work across multiple client accounts, overlapping deadlines and cross-functional teams, with priorities that can shift as client needs evolve. A typical day may take you from coaching an analyst to advising a client to working through a model or campaign performance question yourself. Success means moving comfortably between those responsibilities, making thoughtful decisions quickly and keeping people and projects moving without losing analytical rigor or attention to detail.
You’ll help set the strategy, mentor the team, and serve as a senior client advisor while also rolling up your sleeves to build models, analyze data, improve campaign effectiveness, and shape how AI and marketing automation are applied across client and agency work.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Science & Artificial Intelligence, the Associate Director of Marketing Science will lead the day-to-day development of advanced analytics, applied AI, and marketing automation solutions that improve marketing performance, strengthen client relationships, and demonstrate business impact across a portfolio of agency clients.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts and data practitioners by setting clear expectations, elevating technical quality, providing coaching, and building capabilities that support both current client needs and future agency growth.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing science strategy that aligns with agency and client business goals, and identifies high-value opportunities to apply AI and marketing automation across engagements.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the agency, promoting the thoughtful use of analytics, AI, and automation to guide decision-making and improve efficiency.
- Serve as a senior client advisor, translating complex analytics into clear recommendations, leading high-visibility conversations, and helping clients make smarter marketing and investment decisions.
Data Analysis and Insights
- Conduct and oversee the analysis of marketing and customer data to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive marketing effectiveness, automation strategy, personalization, and ROI.
- Build and guide the development of advanced statistical models, machine learning applications, and AI-enabled decisioning to support targeting, personalization, forecasting, and campaign optimization, taking a hands-on role when needed.
- Ensure the accurate interpretation and presentation of data insights in client-ready narratives that connect performance results to business implications, strategic recommendations, and next steps.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with strategy, creative, media, account, CRM, and technology teams to align analytics, AI, and marketing automation initiatives with client objectives, customer journeys, and campaign strategies.
- Communicate complex analytical concepts and results to clients and non-technical stakeholders in a clear, persuasive, and actionable manner.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders by bringing a clear point of view, translating technical findings into business implications, and guiding clients toward confident, data-informed decisions.
- Contribute to new business and organic growth efforts by shaping measurement approaches, analytics recommendations, and data-informed points of view in proposals and client conversations.
Performance Optimization
- Develop and implement measurement frameworks and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and optimize marketing performance.
- Take a lead role in developing and applying marketing attribution models, customer segmentation, personalization strategies, and automated decision frameworks such as lead scoring, journey orchestration, and next-best-action recommendations, while guiding the team in scaling these approaches.
- Continuously evaluate and refine marketing campaigns and initiatives based on data-driven insights, while proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen client performance and expand the value of the agency’s work.
Data Governance and Compliance
- Ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity through effective data governance practices.
- Implement and enforce data privacy, security, and responsible AI practices to comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Establish best practices for data management, including data cleaning, integration, and storage.
Qualifications
You combine strong technical expertise with leadership presence, client credibility, and a practical mindset for applying analytics, AI, and automation in ways that create measurable value.
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in marketing analytics, data science, or marketing science, including team leadership and client-facing responsibilities.
- Ability to think strategically and turn data into business impact.
- Strong expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, AI applications, and data visualization.
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar tools.
- Experience with cloud and data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Experience with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems, including segmentation, lead nurturing, personalization, and campaign orchestration.
- Experience evaluating and applying AI tools in a business setting, with sound judgment around innovation, accuracy, privacy, and practical value.
- Experience working in an agency, consultancy, or other fast-paced client-service environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
